So, in the last month or so:
- My Advanced Orchestra went to Festival and got two 2's and one 3. I told the kids that it wasn't about the numbers, all that mattered was their experience. (Not just bullshit, I really do believe that. No one will remember in 5 years that we got a 2 overall at Festival.)
- DONE A LOT OF KNITTING.
- My Intermediate Orchestra went to Festival on Monday of this week. They did pretty good. Some strange things happened onstage that had never happened in rehearsal, but it was Monday, and no one expects perfection on Mondays. I had them listen to their CD yesterday in class and grade themselves (A - F) on their performance. Most said about B or C, which I agreed with, but I know where they came from, so I gave them an A for hard work and effort. (I told this to my mentor teacher, and she said that I was talking like "an experienced teacher!") One of our judges was one of my favorite high school directors, and he said we did a good job. The other judge was a HS director who used to be the director at MY school, and he wrote on the comments sheet that the kids "are in good hands."
- I got a new phone! LG Rumor. Lime green. I spilled iced tea (not Long Island, unfortunately) on my Razr, and it had been working funky (or NOT working, really) for a while, so I got a new one. The new phone was worth the money for the peace of mind that it will actually work.
- Jessica and I went to New Orleans! I have pictures, but Vox is taking too long to upload, and I am impatient. You'll get those later.
- I bought the new Panic! at the Disco album. Thank goodness I only spend $10 on it, because it kinda sucks. Not nearly as awesome as the first one.
- I hit 10,000 miles on my car. :D
I spent my Saturday night calculating how to knit socks, watching The Office, and baking a King Cake.
I have noooooooo concept of time now that I'm not in New Orleans. Mardi Gras is next week, and it TOTALLY snuck up on me!
I talked to almost every member of my family today, which was nice. Then I was looking at some pictures from Christmas, and realized that I never uploaded them anywhere! Here are a few.
I made a pitcher of iced tea this morning! It's sooooo good.
Jessica and I moved into our apartment! I have a new address, email me at newandhorrible (at) gmail (dot) com if you want it. We're still getting stuff settled, so it's not all nice yet, but we are getting closer to allowing other people to come inside.
I've also been knitting a lot:
I had two Thanksgiving dinners - one at Jessica's Grandparents' house (where they told me that I am part of the family, whether I like it or not) and another at Dani's house with the Fantastic Four of Sin City Knits. That's the name I've decided to call us, the other three just don't know it, hahaha.
Yeah. That's about it.
I should post here more.
HELLO. I AM ALIVE. AND I SURVIVED OPEN HOUSE. (More on that later.)
I have pictures to show you!
This is my storage room, FULL OF INSTRUMENTS. The cellos are in the actual room, because there is just no more room in there!
They give you a long-sleeved, denim school shirt.
I'm using it as a jacket because it looks ridiculous any other way. These shirts always remind me of elementary school. They look good (well, as good as they can look on anyone) on the male AP's at my school, but definitely not on me.
So, Open House was last night. We had it set up in periods, so the parents got to go through the kids' schedules in the other of the perios. My schedule goes straight through period 1-6, and then I have 7th period prep, so I was talking a lot for a long time. Jessica came (!) and she told me that in 1st period I was awkward and said "Ummm ..." a lot, but by 6th period, I seemed more comfortable.
Now, just gearing up for Monday, when school starts and I have 26 Advanced kids for 2 hours because of all the attendance nonsense we have to go through on the first day.
WISH ME LUCK; THINK GOOD THOUGHTS; ETC.
lame-o, lame-o, i am a lame-o
Yes. That is What I Am.
General Updates:
- AFA RULEZ. Totally.
- I knit. A lot. Sometimes, too much. I'm also obsessed with Ravelry. It's SO AWESOME. Here's my page, in case anyone's interested.
- My room is a pigsty.
- I dyed my hair. (I wanted it to be more red. The box said "Light Reddish Brown," but it's really just brown. Laaame. I wanted to be Ginny Weasley, but no dice.)
- SEEING HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX TOMORROW AT MIDNIGHT. I CANNOT WAIT. I have my cloak, wand, and everything! I'm totally awesome.
- I'm ALSO VERY EXCITED about the DEATHLY HALLOWS RELEASE. This, of course, means that I will have to finish rereading HBP before then. Must. Not. Knit. Until. Finished.
Umm, yes. That is all, I believe.
What method do you use to prepare your coffee or tea?
Submitted by AgentBouche.
This is what it is usually:
1. 1/2 a scoop more coffee than the package recommends.
2. Soy milk.
3. Hot Chocolate Mix.
But now, it's changed, because we now have coffee creamer. French Vanilla yesssssssss.
(Recital post + pictures coming soon!!!)
Jessica and I have come up with a list of states that we are going to reasearch and find teaching jobs in:
16/50 states. Hmmmm.Alaska
Washington
Arizona
New Mexico
Montana
Illinois
Maine
Rhode Island
Hawaii
Nevada
Texas
Maryland
Massachusetts
Connecticut
Oregon
Colorado
I also sent out an email to the Orchestra Directors in my old school district on Tuesday about coming in and talking to their juniors and seniors about Loyola. I have a definite date and time with one school, and I just called another school to set up a time. I'm going to call Mr. Angeles and ask him what I should say, because he was definitely the King of Recruiting.
Another thing: We were orphans last night.
Show us a picture of someone or something jumping.

I still only have 4200 words on my NaNoWriMo novel. GAH. I'm so behind, but I did so much homework yesterday, it was ridiculous. No time to write at all. No time to even stop and breathe.
